Astra is a lightweight WordPress theme built to stay out of the way of a page builder, and one of the most installed themes in the world.
In plain English
Astra does very little on purpose. It gives you a fast, clean shell with a header, a footer and sensible typography, and then lets Elementor, Beaver or the block editor do the actual designing.
That restraint is the point. A theme that already has opinions about every page fights whatever you build on top of it.
Why it matters
Page speed starts with what the theme loads before your content does. Astra ships very little CSS and no page builder of its own, so you are not paying for features you will never open.
It is also a safe recommendation for someone who is going to hand the site over. Astra is not going anywhere, the free version is genuinely usable, and there is a version of every tutorial for it.

Set the global typography once
Astra’s Customizer sets the fonts and sizes the whole site inherits. Doing that before you build a single page saves you restyling every heading later.
