Elementor
Elementor is a visual page builder for WordPress that lets you design pages by dragging elements onto a live canvas and seeing the result immediately.
In plain English
WordPress on its own gives you a content editor. Elementor gives you a design tool. You work on a live preview of the page, drop in headings, images, buttons and containers, then adjust spacing, colour and typography from a side panel.
No code required, but the CSS you would otherwise have written is still there, generated for you, under the hood.
Why it matters
For most people building a site, the bottleneck isn’t ideas. It’s translating an idea into layout. Elementor closes that gap.
It also standardises the fiddly parts: responsive breakpoints, global colours and fonts, reusable templates, and header and footer design without touching a single theme file.
How it works
-
Build with containersFlex and grid containers are the structure. Everything else lives inside them.
-
Set global styles firstDefine your colours and fonts once, and the whole site changes from one place.
-
Design desktop, then check every breakpointElementor lets you override per device. Use that deliberately, not reflexively.
-
Save the good parts as templatesA section you’ll reuse should exist once, not five times.
Nest containers instead of nudging margins
A well-nested container tree is the difference between a layout that survives a redesign and one that collapses the moment you view it on a phone.
